I've sure learned a lot here in 16 years - from the articles I've read, the posts I've made and from DUers with a lot more knowledge than I'll ever have. I'd always voted, mostly for Democrats, but it was 9/11 that woke me up. I had a dentist appointment that day and I knew that something had happened, but it wasn't until I was sitting in the dentist's chair, watching the TV that my dentist had turned to CNN, and seeing footage of that second plane hitting the South Tower over and over and over that I learned that this country was under attack....

And why does there seem to be more concern about the impact being arrested has on the lives of the johns than the impact of being bought has on the women they paid for?

So I haven't been around much lately...

No it's not illness, it's not family issues, it's not exhaustion from politics.

As a healthcare practitioner I have been besieged by financial issues which have almost crushed me. It is the nature of private practice these days. I will give you a taste....

A quick call for civility.

First of all, I love DU, as it is a strong community of Democrats committed to progressive values. There is a lot of wonderful people here, with interesting viewpoints and with a lot of knowledge to share. This is a great community to learn and to become intellectually engaged....

Republicans are willing to overlook Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors because ...

...of all of his great achievements. Huh?

Yeah, like the huge taxcut that went mostly to the very top. It wasn't a great achievement - it was a bait and switch. Taxpayers, looking for their annual refunds, are finally seeing it for the scam that it is....

Personally, I agree with those that say political damage should not weigh into their decision. They all took an oath to defend the Constitution.

Heather McGhee, on MSNBC this morning addressed this question. She believed it would be more damaging for Democrats if they did not impeach. There is just too much to ignore.

It is a constitutional responsibility.

I don't want to watch another news cycle of Smollett, enough.

Democrats need to be shouting out that Labor Secretary Acosta must be fired. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, do we reward someone who covered for underage sex trafficking with a cabinet position? Young girls were raped by many powerful men and Acosta covered it up.

Enough is enough, c'mon Democrats I can't hear you, let's drain the swamp.

Is the division in our country deeper than Dem vs Rep, left vs right?

How do we address the socioeconomic division in our country?

Think about it... Republicans got elected because the people who vote for them have #1 problems of "Why do I have to press 1 for English?!" or "That guy said Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas!" ...

I don't think the Mueller Report release is imminent

I certainly believe that the press has sources stating that the Mueller Report is coming soon are accurate. However, all the sources are coming out of the Trump justice department. The wording in every report is that the Justice Department is "getting ready to accept". Nothing is coming out of the Special Counsel's office. I know that there are other indications, such as reassigning staff and moving files (and what's with that? Doesn't every organization just scan in documents and send them as an attachment from one computer to another. Isn't the actual moving of hard copy files something that was done 25 years ago?). Moving staff could just mean that the trials will be conducted in other jurisdictions, like D.C and the SDNY. Staff could be moving there for upcoming trials. The Grand Jury hasn't met in a month. But that doesn't mean that there aren't dozens of indictments under seal....
