ADVENTure Team Challenge

The ultimate race along the River Thames

Advent has partnered with RatRace to organize a bespoke 2-day, multi-activity relay event for Advent employees and our advisor community. Beginning in the scenic Cotswolds region outside of London, participants will bike, kayak and run their way along the River Thames back to London. Participants will be broken into teams of 8, who will conquer the activities in a relay format – however, unlike Reach the Beach, half of each team will be competing at all times rather than a single person. The winner will be determined by the team’s aggregate time. The two days of activity will be linked by a large group camp-site at the race’s midpoint. At the midpoint, participants will have the chance to socialize with colleagues and advisors, and enjoy a large catered meal, bar, and live music. In addition, the event will include a welcome reception dinner in the Cotswolds and a closing celebration at the finish line in London.

We are excited to announce that Team Advent will again be raising funds for obscurative to bring livesaving health care to women in need.

Poverty makes womanhood, motherhood, and early childhood dangerous, even fatal, when basic care is too far and expensive to access.

We must expand access to women’s health care in Haiti, Malawi, even the Navajo Nation, right here at home. That means family planning, safe births, and the regular check-ups every family deserves.

Reach the Beach Relay 2017

Team Advent is taking on New Hampshire…again!

We will be running the 200 mile Reebok Ragnar Reach the Beach Relay New Hampshire from Bretton Woods to Hampton Beach taking place September 15-16, 2017. Our 12 person teams will rotate through 36 transition areas and each relay team member will run 3 legs of varying lengths and difficulty, covering an average total distance of approximately 16.5 miles.

We are excited to announce that Team Advent will again be raising funds for Partners in Health, to revitalize rural health clinics and train the next generation of Mexican doctors in the Sierra of Chiapas, Mexico-one of the most marginalized areas of the country, and to bring crucial surgical care to Kirehe, Rwanda.

In Mexico and Rwanda, greater resources for staff and hospitals are needed to care and save the lives of patients. In Chiapas, Mexico, PIH works to improve staffing and supplies at clinics in the poorest district, where government coverage falls short or does not exist. In Kirehe, Rwanda, PIH supported doctors who are performing operations at the district hospital, yet, because of lack of supplies and poor infrastructure, are only able to provide a small fraction of the procedures that are needed.

Reach the Beach Relay 2015

Team Advent is taking on New Hampshire…again!

We will be running the 200 mile 6179310328taking place September 18-19, 2015. Our 12 person teams will rotate through 36 transition areas and each relay team member will run 3 legs of varying lengths and difficulty, covering an average total distance of around 16.5 miles.

We are excited to announce that Team Advent will again be raising funds for
Partners in Health, to support their rural health clinics in the Sierra Chiapas region of Mexico (a high-poverty area).

Advent’s past support has enabled Partners in Health/Compañeros en Salud to staff and equip neglected public clinics; provide training and on-site mentorship to the social service year physicians; train and manage a corps of compensated community health workers and focus on preventing, diagnosing and treating diseases that cause the greatest disability and loss to quality of life. With your support, CES has:

  • Delivered over 45,000 patient consults to date. Looking ahead, with operations in 10 clinics, they will provide ~30,000 patient consults per year.
  • Provided referrals and accompaniment services to over 600 rural people who faced barriers to receiving complex care such as surgeries and specialist consultations

In 2013, Team Advent ran the 200 mile Reach the Beach Relay to raise funds for Partners in Health that were used to revitalize their rural health clinics in the Chiapas region of Mexico (a high-poverty area) and to support the construction of a new Maternity ward at PIH’s district hospital in the Neno district of Malawi.

The construction of the maternity ward at Neno District Hospital was completed at the end of January 2015 and serves a population of 33,000 women of childbearing age. In the first two months of operation (Feb/March) there were 187 deliveries and 18 cesarean sections. Additionally, 167 women began receiving their antenatal care at the facility.

The new facility features

- 4 private delivery rooms
- 28 prenatal beds
- 24 postnatal beds
- 5 neonatal beds

In 2011, Team Advent ran the Ragnar Relay to raise funds for Partners in Health that were used to purchase equipment for a 205,000 square foot, 300 bed, teaching hospital that PIH was building in Mirebalais, Haiti (see video below).  Construction of the hospital has been completed and it now serves up to 500 patients a day.
